What age can start learning Guzheng?
Students can start learning Guzheng from age 5 and up. We welcome learners of all ages, from young children to adults. Our teaching approach is tailored to each student’s age and learning pace.
Do I need my own Guzheng to take lessons?
While having your own instrument is ideal for practice, we can help you rent or purchase a Guzheng. We offer guidance on selecting the right instrument for your level and budget.
What is the lesson format?
We offer both in-person lessons at our Naperville studio and online remote lessons via video call. Lessons are typically 45-60 minutes for individual sessions. We customize each lesson based on your skill level and goals.
How often should I take lessons?
We recommend one lesson per week for consistent progress. However, we can adjust the frequency based on your schedule and learning goals. Regular practice between lessons is essential for improvement.
Do you offer group lessons?
Yes! In addition to individual lessons, we offer ensemble classes through the MengHua Guan Guzheng Ensemble. Group sessions are a wonderful way to develop collaborative musicianship and stage performance skills.
Can I prepare for Guzheng grading exams?
Absolutely. Ms. Guan has extensive experience preparing students for national and international Guzheng competitions and grading examinations. Many of our students have won awards in prestigious competitions.
How do online lessons work?
Online lessons are conducted via video call (Zoom or similar platforms). You will need a stable internet connection, a device with camera and microphone, and your Guzheng. Our instructor uses multi-angle camera setups to provide clear demonstrations.
What is the tuition fee?
Tuition varies based on lesson type (individual vs. group), frequency, and format (in-person vs. online). Please contact us for detailed pricing information.
